Polish Winners of Briggs & Stratton’s Lawnmower Building Contest Visit U.S. Corporate Headquarters
Milwaukee, Wisconsin – October 3, 2005 – Polish winners from Briggs & Stratton Corporation’s international lawnmower building competition are visiting the company’s Milwaukee-based headquarters and touring other local favorites.
Four Polish technical universities competed in the company’s contest, which challenged each representing team to design and build a functional lawnmower powered by a Briggs & Stratton engine. With an emphasis on innovation and new solutions, the three-student team from the Technical University of Wroclaw combined simplicity with new Zero-Turn Radius technology into their model. “Briggs & Stratton places high value on innovation because it leads to new products that bring added value to consumers,” says Vince Bowden, Marketing Director for Briggs & Stratton Europe.
In their first visit to the United States the winners will tour the company’s headquarters, focusing on Research & Development and the Power House Museum. This will be followed by a walk-through of the Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group, LLC. plant in order to directly view the company’s manufacturing process. The team will also be visiting the Miller Brewing Corporation as well as Harley Davidson Motor Company.
According to Wojtek Jasinski, Business Development Manager for Briggs & Stratton in Central and Eastern Europe, “This program was developed as a way to forge relationships in a community where Briggs & Stratton can tap into new views of innovation and creativity, while at the same time provide a challenging educational opportunity for the students.” The company is also involved in various technical competitions in the U.S. and overseas with the goal of developing the workforce through education, in order to help meet the challenges and demands of changing times.
Briggs & Stratton is the largest manufacturer of small, air-cooled engines for lawn and garden and other outdoor power equipment. The company is also a major producer of generators and pressure washers. Briggs & Stratton products are designed, manufactured, marketed, and serviced in over 100 countries on all seven continents.
